1940 Marx Mechanical Delivery Service Truck in Original Box

1940 Marx Mechanical Delivery Service Truck in Original Box

Unusual pressed steel truck by Marx complete with original box. Sleek, stylish, with just a hint of art deco streamlining. It's unusual in that the body was made from a single piece of sheet metal folded up and over to create the rear bed. This also encloses most of the chassis and provides a compartment for the motor. The yellow hood and cab roof were then added separately.

The thing that really catches your eye are the super brilliant colors. Baked on brilliant yellow and blue enamel with a fixed red tailgate. The clockwork motor fits up inside the trailer bed and is covered with an arched sheet of polished tin. It works smoothly and consistently. The key is attached. It has an embossed, one piece chrome plated steel grille assembly. The wheels are wood painted black.

It has two long panel wide decals on either side of the exterior bed walls with "Deluxe Delivery Super Service". printed in red, white, and blue and outlined in black.

The box has a red and blue portrait illustration of the truck on the two main panels. The side panels show the scrolled name of the truck with the Marx logo. The endflaps are an uncommon interlocking design; easy to tear and destroy. It has all eight original endflaps.

Paint and parts are all original. It has no repairs and the clockwork motor works great. Purchased from a collection where it resided for many years.
